چکیده

Biodegradable aliphatic random copolyesters poly(butylene succinate-co-butylene adipate), PBSA and poly(butylene succinate-co-butylene azelate), PBSAz were synthesized from 1,4 butane diol, succinic acid and adipic acid/azelaic acid through direct melt polycondensation with Titanium Tetra isopropoxide (TTiPO) as a catalyst. These polyesters were characterized by Viscosity measurements, 1H NMR spectroscopy, Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Thermal properties have been analysed using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). We have studied the biodegradation behaviour of these polyesters by Aspergillus versicolor fungi. The fungal degradation rates for the polyesters were observed and compared. The changes in the structure morphology during the degradation process were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It appears that the key factor affecting the degradation was its crystallinity. This kind of novel biodegradable polymers are expected to have potential applications as environment friendly materials.

Biodegradation of aliphatic-aromatic copolyesters by Thermomonospora fusca and other thermophilic compost isolates.

Random aliphatic-aromatic copolyesters synthesized from 1,4-butanediol, adipic acid, and terephthalic acid (BTA) have excellent thermal and mechanical properties and are biodegradable by mixed cultures (e.g., in compost). Over 20 BTA-degrading strains were isolated by using compost as a microbial source. Among these microorganisms, thermophilic actinomycetes obviously play an outstanding role a...

Study on Biodegradable Aromatic/aliphatic Copolyesters

Progress on biodegradable aromatic/aliphatic copolyesters based on aliphatic and aromatic diacids, diols and ester monomers was reviewed. The aromatic/aliphatic copolyesters combined excellent mechanical properties with biodegradability. Physical properties and biodegradability of copolyesters varied with chain length of the aliphatic polyester segment and atacticity of copolyesters. The proces...

Hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation of liquid-crystalline aromatic/aliphatic copolyesters.

Aromatic/aliphatic copolyesters containing hydrophilic moieties in the main chain or side chain were synthesized by bulk polycondensation of aromatic monomers without or with solubilizing substituents and aliphatic monomers. Hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation studies were carried out in vitro at 37 degrees C in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer and in Tris-HCl buffer containing proteinase K. The result...

A Study on the Synthesis and Biocidal Efficacy of Certain Random Copolyesters Containing Chalcone Moiety

A series of four random copolyesters were synthesized by the polycondensation of a chalcone diol by making use of two diacid chlorides namely terephthaloyl chloride and succinyl chloride. The four chalcone diols involved are (2E)-1,3-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, (2E)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-prop-2-en1-one, (2E)-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-...
